Rockwood cow wins national award
Rosalea Jed’s Cybil from Rosalea Jerseys near Rockwood was named Cow of the Year by Jersey Canada on Jan. 19.
“My family and I are very honoured to have our girl Cybil win this award,” said Andrea Nixon of Rosalea Jerseys.
“I am currently the fourth generation on the farm. Three generations here, my grandfather, dad and myself, have been lucky enough to work with her and see her grow into the great cow she is today.”
The 12-year-old cow has won several awards in her lifetime, including gold and three silver production awards and 2013 single hall of fame award.
“Each year she has continued to excel and shows she has all the attributes of a great cow,” said Andrea.
The Nixons will receive the award at the Jersey Canada Annual General Meeting from March 17 to 19 in Ingersoll.
