Rocks, 81's sweep first round playoff series
Wellington County’s two entries in the WOAA Senior AA hockey circuit have swept their first round playoff series.
The Mapleton-Minto 81’s swept the Lucknow Lancers four straight after winning two games in WOAA Senior AA action this past weekend.
The 81’s won 9-2 in Palmerston on Feb. 14 and earned an 8-2 victory the following night in Lucknow.
In total, the 81’s outscored Lucknow 34 to 7 in the series.
The 81’s next opponent is the Durham Thundercats in a second round series that begins in Palmerston on Feb. 23 at 3:30pm.
The Elora Rocks beat the Shelburne Muskies four straight. The Rocks won 9-3 at home on Feb. 7, 11-6 in Shelburne on Feb. 8, 7-2 in Elora on Feb. 13 and 8-3 in a Feb. 15 road contest.
The Rocks face the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks in the second round, with action beginning on Feb. 21 in Elora at 8:30pm.
