Guelph-Eramosa received a $116,550 grant for the Rockmosa skatepark through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

“This is fantastic News,” Mayor Chris White said. “So this is the grant we were looking for for the skatepark.”

Director of parks and recreation Robin Milne explained the township applied for the funding in May of 2016 and found out the application had been accepted in January.

“The skatepark will be a key investment of a larger expansion planned for Rockmosa Park that will aim to expand economic growth through resident retention and attraction,” Milne said.

He added the skatepark will be accessible to all families.

“There is no financial impact as we were anticipating this funding at budget deliberations and the recommendation is before you,” Milne said.

The $116,550 is a third of the $350,000 budgeted amount.

“It reduces the (Rockwood) Hydro Fund need by this amount of money,” White said.

“So good work on the grant ... They seem to be harder to get these days.”
