Residents celebrate December to get ready for Christmas season

December at Wellington Terrace will be a festive and celebratory month.

Each of the six neighbourhoods will be holding their annual Christmas celebration parties on various mornings, afternoons, and evenings throughout the month.

We are also offering several Christmas Lights tours throughout the month, taking groups of residents out in our bus to see the Christmas lights in our community.

We have some special Christmas programs occurring in December, including:  the Centre Wellington Singers; the Country Spirit and Journeymen; the Centre Wellington String Ensemble; the Singing Seniors; the St. Joseph’s School Group; and the Fergus/Elora Home School Chorus.

We are looking forward to some new entertainment to Wellington Terrace, with a group of line dancers coming in on Dec. 18.

The residents’ council will be having a Christmas party and meeting this month as well, and our spousal support group will be getting together to enjoy a nice Christmas luncheon. Our nutrition services staff members are so helpful with these special events and programs, and we thank them for their extra efforts this busy time of year.

Within the neighbourhoods, we will be hosting Christmas teas, tree trimming socials, breakfast, and lunch clubs, reminiscing groups taking us back to Christmases of the past, and of course some Christmas baking to enjoy..

Some residents enjoyed a trip to Belgian Nursery to see its Christmas display, and other residents will be spending the day at the malls and stores in the area, catching up on some Christmas shopping. We are also taking a trip over to the museum to see their Winter quilt exhibit this month as well.

We will be getting together for our Christmas eve morning service on Dec. 24 in the chapel, and our talent-showcasing New Year’s Eve party will be held on Dec. 31 at 2pm.

Dec. 5 marked International Day of the Volunteer, and we celebrated our team of volunteers all week, providing special refreshments for them in the volunteer lounge, as well as for those who so generously give of their time to the Second Time ’Round store in Elora.

Thank you to every member of our volunteer team of Wellington Terrace; your ongoing commitment and dedication to the residents, and to the store, is always greatly appreciated.

For information on our current volunteer opportunities, please contact Mary Black Gallagher at (519) 846-5359, extension 266, or by email at maryb@county.wellington.on.ca.

From all of the residents, staff, volunteers and family members of Wellington Terrace, we wish you a very happy and healthy holiday season.
