Resa Lent heats up Elora winter market with vegetarian fare

This Saturday, between 10am and noon at the Elora Farmers’ Market, residents are invited to chat with Resa Lent, Queen of the Desert Rose, and to sample treats from the pages of her cookbook.

Lent, with her Desert Rose Cafe Cookbook, has won the Canadian English class in the best vegetarian cuisine cookbook category in the Gourmand World Cookbook awards.

She is now one of four cookbook authors on the short list for the top prize out of all the vegetarian cookbooks submitted from around the world.

The outcome of that competition will be announced in March.

The awards ceremony will be held in Paris, France.

Lent’s visit to the market provides locals a chance not only for a chat, but to get a signed copy of the book, now in its second printing.

It is filled, not just with recipes, but also with photos, memories, and stories of the people who all became part of the Desert Rose Cafe family and a piece of Elora history.

Stop by the Savour Elora Fergus booth at the Elora Farmers’ Market on Feb. 19 to enjoy samples and to wish Lent good luck for the coming awards.
