Uninhibited
God’s Word tells me to throw off everything that impedes me and the sin that tangles me up, and to “run with perseverance” (Heb. 12:1) the race marked out for me.
This verse articulates the fact that I am given the assignment to essentially “go for gold,” as I am edified and enabled by Holy Spirit. I can run the race I have to run, knowing and serving God as he is, free to live in delight, outside any skin and by the uninhibited impulse of my spirit, as it is sanctified by God’s Holy Spirit.
I have moved from being conditioned and/or manipulated by limitations or, at least, what appears to be limitations, and into a place where I am literally and fully “licensed to drive.” I have the keys of God’s kingdom, and I am licensed to roam free and participate fully in his world. And what a world this is!
In the context of “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart,” (Psalm 37:4) as I take delight in the Lord, I am free to do what brings God pleasure and what brings me pleasure, because his pleasure is now in me. What brings me pleasure is what brings God pleasure and, conversely, what brings God pleasure is what brings me pleasure. His spirit flows into me and remains in me. From this new paradigm I am discovering that what I really love doing is exactly what God has always wanted me to do.
As I learn to live out of this delight in the Lord, what I do takes me to my highest height. In fact, God’s transformative work in me is such that my greatest pleasure is to express what God means to me.
And in all that I do I can be at rest, knowing that what I am doing is exactly what God has always and only wanted me to do. It is therefore my greatest pleasure to serve him.
