Longtime Fergus resident Nonie Thompson, now living in Penetanguishene, is returning to Fergus on Dec. 9 with a full band called The Reel Celts in tow - for a Christmas show at the Fergus Grand Theatre.

The Reel Celts are led by multi-instrumentalist Eugene Rea with Nonie Thompson on vocals, guitar and harmonica; Tom Leighton on accordion, keyboard, bodhran and whistles; award-winning fiddler Anne Lederman;  and Paul Gribbon on Irish Uillean pipes and many other instruments.

All band members both play and sing.

The Reel Celtic Christmas is a concert featuring lyrical songs and instrumentals.

The band presents both traditional and contemporary songs, with deep and ever-changing tapestries of colour, weaving harmonies and textures throughout.

They have a reputation for wowing audiences with their energy and mastery,” officials state in a press release.

The songs chosen for this Christmas concert will no doubt draw a similar reaction, officials predict.

Tickets are $25 and can be ordered online from Fergus Grand Theatre’s website  http://www.centrewellington.ca/beactive/Pages/Fergus-Grand-Theatre.aspx or at the door.
