Rae named parliamentary secretary to education minister

QUEEN’S PARK - Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae was appointed to the role of parliamentary assistant (PA) to Minister of Education Stephen Leece.

Rae joins Patrice Barnes, MPP for Ajax, as the two PAs to the Minister of Education.

“It is a great honour to serve the people of Perth-Wellington and Ontario in this additional role,” said Rae. “My professional experience in education and representing a predominantly rural riding provides me with a unique perspective.”

Last Friday, Premier Doug Ford announced his Cabinet with Lecce retaining his position as the Minister of Education. PA’s principally assist their respective minister in their legislative duties but may also assist in extra-parliamentary activities such as policy formation.

“I look forward to working with Minister Lecce and PA Barnes on learning recovery, mental health, and a return to normal classes,” said Rae.
