Rae comments on Fall Economic Statement
TORONTO – Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy introduced the province’s fall economic statement on Oct. 29.
According to a news release from Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae’s office, the statement focuses on responding to US tariffs and trade disruptions by protecting the province’s economy through reducing the cost of doing business, attracting new investment, creating jobs and supporting long-term growth.
Highlights of the statement include:
- Ontario Competiveness Tax Cut, providing $8 billion in tax relief;
- an $8.7-billion Canada-Ontario action plan to strengthen steel, auto and critical minerals sectors; and
- eliminating, streamlining or transporting business-facing permits by up to 50 per cent by the end of 2028.
“Our government remains focused on protecting workers and keeping costs down for families and businesses, while continuing to invest in healthcare and education services,” Rae stated in the release.
