Radiothon to provide chemistry analyzer
The seventh annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon will be held Oct. 18.
“If we all give a little, we all get a lot,” is a motto very appropriate for the Radiothon, considering that since its inception in 2001, $3.8-million has been raised by participating foundations.
The Radiothon is simulcast on AM920 and 101.7 The One with reports on Wingham’s third station, 94.5 The Bull. This year’s goal is to break the $1-million mark.
The Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation alone - through the support of the communities of Minto, Mapleton, and surrounding areas - has amassed a total of close to $500,000 for the hospital. Last year the Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation raised $119,000 to provide funding for a new cardiac monitoring system, which is now benefiting hospital patients.
The foundation’s focus this year is the purchase of a new laboratory chemistry analyzer, which is used for the diagnostic analysis of human blood samples. The local goal is $125,000.
