Race raises $40,000 over five-year run

Avery’s Bravey Race has raised $40,000 over five years for Sick Kids hospital in Toronto.

The event started in recognition of Avery Bond, who was born in 2009 and had life saving heart surgery at 13 days of age to repair a coarctation of the aorta.

In an email the week following the April 26 event, mom Christine Bond said the 2014 raised $10,000 – which brought the five year total to $40,000.

Though this year marks the fifth and final year of the race, the family has committed to other fundraising ventures.
