Puslinch shed fire causes $10,000 damage

PUSLINCH – The Puslinch fire department responded to a shed fire at a property just east of Aberfoyle around 12:30pm on May 1.

The shed is located at 7719 Wellington Road 34 near Watson Road.

Chief Luis Gomes said firefighters were back at the station two and a half hours later.

“The owner was using a kerosine lantern in the shed,” Gomes said. “The fire was accidental.”

Gomes said Puslinch and Guelph-Eramosa fire departments have an agreement to automatically aid each other with any structure fires but in this case, Guelph-Eramosa arrived but weren’t needed.

“I’m happy they came,” Gomes said. “There were fuel tanks, firewood and a row of trees. If any of them had caught fire, we would have needed the support.”

Gomes said damage to the shed and its contents is valued at $10,000.
