Library board chairman Mark MacKenzie is confident of an August opening for the new Puslinch library.

On Jan. 27 MacKenzie told members of Wellington County council the board had received an update on the project’s status, as well as the staus for another ongoing project.

Harriston library update

As for the projected work on the Harriston Library, MacKenzie said a committee was struck and is looking to a design presentation in March.

The design committee for the Harriston Library be composed of the following: councillors MacKenzie, Dennis Lever and Shawn Watters, Warden Chris White, Walter Trachsel, Brad Whitcombe and Sheila Gamble.

The intent is for the committee to also include representatives from the Town of Minto, and from the Minto Arts Council.

“We’ll keep you posted on that one,” MacKenzie said.

In his report to the library board, construction supervisor Kevin Mulholland said the demolition of the building next to the library (90 Elora Street) and the tendering for renovations to the library will take place in the early spring.
