Puslinch council addresses water budget report

On April 5, Puslinch councillors briefly discussed correspondence regarding the Guelph and Guelph-Eramosa Township Tier 3 water budget and local area risk assessment.

Council reviewed the memorandum from Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change hydrogeologist Kathryn Baker which confirmed the MOCEE had accepted, on behalf of the province, the water budget and local area risk assessment report and the associated municipal peer review documentation for the City of Guelph and Guelph-Eramosa Township municipal systems.

“Source Protection Programs Branch would like to acknowledge the tremendous level of effort and many years of dedication from source protection authority staff, municipal representatives and consultants to produce this important technical report,” stated Baker.

Mayor Dennis Lever noted  that at the source water committee meeting, both he and source water risk assessment officer Kyle Davis were to speak regarding the process of the Tier 3 water budget.

Councillor Matthew Bulmer asked if their presentation would speak to deficiencies in the report.

Lever clarified the presentation was about the process itself – not the detailed technical discussion.

“It is to outline our involvement in the future,” Lever said.
