Mayor Dennis Lever says budget talks are going well.

Following the Feb. 5 council session, the mayor outlined the ongoing discussions to firm the budget for 2014.

Earlier that day, council reviewed its operating budget.

Council had reviewed the capital budget back in December.

Lever said council had now gone through each of the budgets department by department.

“The budgets have changed significantly in the presentation and how things are being accounted for.”

Part of that is due to the township now having a director of finance/treasurer Mary Hasan.

He said the current budget is now more detailed an explanatory.

That budget is posted on the township website.

Lever said the next budget meeting in early March will look at the combination of the operating and capital budgets and the potential impact to the levy.

He noted the item of community grants also needs to be dealt with.
