Public Health announces clinic dates for H1N1 shots

Flu clinics for this area will be started this Friday.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph public health announced clinics will be held in eight locations across Wellington and Dufferin Counties and will run until the end of December. Those clinics will offer the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines.

“The science supports that it is safe to give both the H1N1 and seasonal flu shots together,” said Medical Officer of Health Dr. Nicola Mercer.

“We planned for large-scale clinics, so now have the capacity to be able to offer both shots,” she said “This is an opportunity for the public to protect themselves against both types of flu with only one visit to our public flu clinics.”

The H1N1 vaccine was to arrive late last week.

In the next week Public Health officials will provide it to higher risk populations in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

It will also distribute vaccine to physicians for their patients.
