Prowind hosting second public meeting Aug. 6
Meeting to see if wind, solar projects viable in Minto
HARRISTON – Prowind Canada is once again inviting Minto residents to attend a public community information meeting to learn more about potential renewable energy opportunities in the area.
The Aug. 6 meeting, at the Harriston Arena and Community Complex from 4 to 6pm, will provide information, answer questions and give Prowind officials another chance to hear directly from community members before any detailed project plans are developed.
A previous meeting was held at the local arena on June 25.
The Germany-based renewable energy company is exploring potential wind and solar projects in Minto, but officials say it has not selected any sites or approached landowners, instead beginning what it describes as an early consultation process with residents.
Helmut Schneider, vice-president of Ontario operations for Prowind, said at the last meeting the company is gathering public input before determining whether a project is even feasible.
More public meetings are expected following the municipal election, Schneider previously stated, as Prowind continues to assess the possibility of coming to the Town of Minto.
