More correspondence regarding the proposed Highway 6 bypass for Morriston continues to trickle in.

On June 5, Puslinch councillors noted correspondence from both Minister of Transportation Glen Murray and Wellinton-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott.

Murray extended his appreciation to the “continued interest in the Morriston bypass and I assure you that the ministry recognizes the importance of the planned bypass to the local community.”

Murray stated again that while the project is not currently funded, the ministry is moving forward through completing a number of pre-construction activities.

He explained these include the designation of the new route to protect the required property from development and beginning to acquire property on a willing buyer-willing seller basis.

“In the short term, the ministry is also working with community members to enhance traffic safety and operations through Morriston. Improvements to traffic signal timings have been made and an extension of the eastbound off-ramp at the Highway 401 interchange was constructed last summer.

“The ministry has recently upgraded the existing speed limit signs to a larger size, and is moving ahead with the installation of an enhanced pedestrian crossing in Morriston.”

Puslinch Mayor Dennis Lever noted Arnott did present the citizen petition in the Legislature at Queens Park while noting how much money is being spent on highways.
