The Union Gas Guelph Reinforcement Pipeline Project is now on hold.

Recent correspondence to Puslinch Township stated the project is being deferred until further notice. The original intent of the pipeline was to ensure the continued reliable, safe delivery of natural gas and serve an increased demand in the City of Guelph and surrounding area.

The natural gas pipeline would have been between existing Union Gas stations on Wellington Road 34 and Forestell Road.

Union Gas senior project management Steve Thurtell stated, “Based on current information and a recent analysis of market demand, construction of the proposed project will be deferred until future market reviews determine there is sufficient demand.

“As a result, Stantec Consulting Ltd. will not be moving forward with the environmental study of the construction and operation of the proposed project at this time.”
