Pranksters caught
What some people thought was a humourous prank turned out not to be so funny for the individuals police say are responsible for the incident.
In the early morning of June 20, a small group of male suspects in their late teens removed a statue of a horse from McMillan Park in Erin and transported it on the roof of a small hatchback car to Erin District High School.
“The suspects then hoisted the horse up to the roof of the high school using ropes,” police stated in a press release. “The horse was placed over top of the front entrance at the school, enabling staff and students to have a clear view of it later that morning.”
Police say “the (four) youths responsible have been identified and been diverted according to the Youth Criminal Justice Act” and the horse was repaired and returned.
“All parties involved are satisfied that this was no more than a prank and these youths are not responsible for other mischiefs occurring in Erin,” police stated.
