The Palmerston Posse Juvenile boys broomball team is headed to Portage La Prairie at the end of March to compete for the Canadian Juvenile Broomball Championship.

The team, based in Palmerston, is made up of players from around the region. The team competed in the Ontario national qualifying tournament Nov. 28 and 29 in Stroud less than a month after losing teammate Troy McLaughlin in a car accident.

The Posse finished third in the tournament and on Jan. 2 were invited to participate in the national championships, as the second team representing Ontario.

The team is looking to local businesses for support during fundraising for the trip and will be hosting a number of events, including a roast beef dinner, raffle draw and bottle drive.
