WELLINGTON NORTH – Police are seeking help to identify the person(s) responsible for leaving a suspicious package at a home here.

On May 5 at about 11:15pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a mischief complaint at a residence on Concession 9, west of Kenilworth.

"It was reported an object was thrown through a window and a suspicious package was left outside the home," police stated in a May 6 press release.

"Officers responded and secured the area. The Explosive Disposal Unit ... responded and determined that the package was inert and not a risk.

"Investigators continue to seek out the source and motive for this act."

Police are asking anyone with information to call the OPP toll free at 1-888-310-1122 or online at www.opp.ca/reporting.

To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at www.csgw.tips. Tip providers may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.

Police are reminding residents that if they "come across a suspicious package - not to handle it … keep a safe distance - and call police immediately."
