Police looking to identify suspect in Boxing Day heist

ERIN – More than five weeks after cash was stolen from a safe at a local business, police are issuing a call for help to identify a suspect involved.

Wellington County OPP officials say officers are investigating a theft at a business on Main Street in Erin on Dec. 26 at about 4:30am.

A suspect “forced entry into the business and stole a quantity of cash from a safe,” police stated in a Feb. 1 press release.

Police did not identify the business targeted, nor did they say how much money was stolen.

It’s also unclear why it took more than five weeks to release details about the incident.

The OPP press release suggested the suspect “was wearing a unique pair of shoes identifiable by high-vis soles,” though brightly-coloured soles and footwear are quite common.
