Police are asking for the public’s help to identify an alleged identity thief.

On Jan. 24 at about 3:30pm a man unsuccessfully attempted to withdraw over $4,000 from the TD Bank on Geddes Street in Elora with “a fraudulently obtained bank card,” police say.

The man “had previously attended another bank in the area, provided a fake identification card and acquired a replacement bank card for a valid client’s account.”

The OPP is asking for help to identify the suspect (pictured), who’s about 178cm (five feet, ten inches) tall. Anyone with information can contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip at www.csgw.tips.
