Police look to identify suspect after sexual assault at Fergus business

FERGUS – Police are looking to identify a man they say sexually assaulted a woman last week at a Fergus store.

Wellington County OPP officials say they are investigating an incident “at a retailer on St. David Street” on April 30 at about 5:45pm.

“A woman was sexually assaulted by an unknown male,” police stated in a May 7 press release.

The suspect is described by police as white, 50 to 60 years old, tall and “heavy set.”

Police say he was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark sunglasses, dark hoody, blue spandex shorts and white sneakers, and was carrying keys and a black wallet.

Despite asking for help to identify the man, police will not say where the incident occurred.

“In an effort to protect the victim we will not be identifying the business,” OPP spokesperson Josh Cunningham stated in an emailed response to an Advertiser inquiry.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
