Police lay more ‘intimate partner violence’ charges

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police laid 18 charges in nine incidents across the county involving “intimate partner violence” last month.

In an April 3 press release, the OPP listed the following incidents and charges in March:

– March 4 incident in Minto, 32-year-old man from Palmerston charged with uttering threats to cause death and two counts of spousal assault;

– March 5, Guelph/Eramosa, 41-year-old man from Guelph charged with failing to comply with a probation order and with a release order;

– March 6, Centre Wellington, 61-year-old man from Fergus charged with voyeurism;

– March 6, Minto, 32-year-old man from Palmerston charged with failing to comply with an undertaking;

– March 10, Centre Wellington, 28-year-old man from Brampton charged with spousal assault, mischief under $5,000 and cruelty to animals;

– March 13, Centre Wellington, 56-year-old man from Erin charged with criminal harassment and disobeying a court order;

– March 17, Centre Wellington, 31-year-old man from Fergus charged with spousal assault;

– March 19, Wellington North, 28-year-old man from Alliston charged with spousal assault and assault causing bodily harm; and

– March 27, Centre Wellington, 29-year-old man from Fergus charged with spousal assault, mischief under $5,000 and overcoming resistance by attempting to choke.

“Victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assault are not alone,” police stated in a press release.

Police say resources include:
