Police beat: Wellington North resident charged after trying to evade police

HOWICK - Shortly after 7pm on April 9, a Huron County OPP officer observed a pickup truck without licence plates travelling westbound on Gough Road.

Police say the officer turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver immediately accelerated and fled.

“The driver then drove into Gorrie where they raced by a cyclist, skidded through the intersection of Alma Street and William Street and drove across a lawn before the driver parked it at an Alma Street property,” police stated in a press release.

Shaunnice White, 22, of Wellington North, was charged with dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, driving without insurance and without plates.

The accused is to appear in Goderich court July 6.
