Police beat: Thrift store theft
FERGUS - On Jan. 17 at about 3:40pm Wellington County OPP responded to a theft at the New to You consignment/thrift store on St. David Street North here.
Police say that at about 2pm someone removed one of two backpacks from the store that were on display and not for sale.
“The person placed the item in a shopping cart, exited the store and took it to their pick-up truck,” police stated.
“They returned to the store a short while later and attempted to take the second backpack .. [but] was advised by a store employee that the item was for auction not for sale.”
Police would like to speak with the person in the photo at right.
