MAPLETON – A Fergus resident has been charged with careless driving in connection with a two-vehicle collision southwest of Alma on Monday.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, at Wellington Road 17 and 8th Line West in Mapleton Township, on June 16 at about 3pm.
“The collision involved a motorcycle [and] sedan,” states a press release from the Wellington County OPP.
Wellington Road 17 was closed for two hours between 8th Line West and Wellington Road 8.
“The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital, later to be determined to have minor, non-life-threatening injuries,” police stated.
A 65-year-old Fergus resident was charged with careless driving.
Charge laid after rollover
ERIN – An Erin man was charged after a two-vehicle collision here last week that resulted in a rollover into a ditch and minor injuries.
On June 10 at about 10pm, emergency crews responded to the crash at the intersection of Sideroad 5 and Trafalgar Road, just north of Ballinafad.
“It was discovered that as a result of the collision, a truck had a rollover into a nearby ditch and struck a hydro pole,” stated a June 11 press release from the Wellington County OPP.
“All parties were transported to local hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries.”
A 21-year-old Erin driver was charged with failing to yield to traffic.
Partner violence
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.
Those arrested include a 29-year-old from Guelph/Eramosa, who was charged with assault with a weapon (spousal) in relation to an incident in Guelph/Eramosa on June 10;
The accused individuals are to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
Driver, business charged
FERGUS – A Brampton driver has been charged with careless driving and a host of other offences after being pulled over here last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers were “conducting proactive traffic enforcement” when they pulled over a commercial vehicle on Gzowski Street in Fergus on June 14 at about 3:30pm.
A 32-year-old from Brampton was charged with careless driving, failing to report damage to property on a highway and six other vehicle-related offences.
The accused was also given warnings for five other offences. An associated business faces two charges.
The accused are to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
Guelph man charged after traffic stop
MORRISTON – A Guelph driver is facing five charges after being stopped at a RIDE program last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers were conducting the RIDE program on June 12 at about 4am on Queen Street in Morriston.
A 38-year-old Guelph man was charged with possession of property obtained by crime (under $5,000), driving while prohibited, failing to comply with a release order, and two counts of driving while suspended.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and released.
Driving charges
FERGUS – Police have charged an Everett resident with five driving offences following a traffic stop here last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers were “performing a proactive traffic enforcement initiative” on Union Street West in Fergus on June 10 at about 6:45am.
A 59-year-old from Everett was charged with failing to stop for a red light, driving without a licence and permit, drawing a trailer without a permit and driving without an insurance card.
Business, driver charged
MOUNT FOREST – Police have charged a Mount Forest driver and an associated business following a traffic stop here.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers were monitoring traffic on Main Street North in Mount Forest on June 11 at about 11:15pm.
A 44-year-old from Mississauga was charged with driving with defective brakes and driving without a permit.
Police say a business associated with the driver was charged with allowing a vehicle to be driven without a permit, allowing an unsafe combination of vehicles, improper tires on a drawn vehicle and making a false statement.
Vehicle charges
MAPLETON – A Lucknow resident faces five driving charges after a traffic stop here last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 86 in Mapleton Township pulled over a vehicle on June 9 at about 1pm.
A 33-year-old from Lucknow was charged with driving with a defective braking system, no muffler, improper mudguards and coated windshield; and driving without a valid permit.
The accused was also given warnings for having a colour coating obscuring the interior of a vehicle and with obstructing a licence plate.
Plethora of charges
FERGUS – A 32-year-old Ariss driver faces 11 charges after a traffic stop on Belsyde Avenue East on June 14 at about 9:30am.
He was charged with driving without a licence and without insurance, possessing unmarked cigarettes, driving with a defective braking system, improper tires, failing to surrender a trailer permit and a vehicle permit and four other offences.
The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
