Place, Lloyd Robert; At Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus on Saturday, December 13, 2008, Lloyd Robert Place, at the age of 82 years. Lloyd was born, raised and lived his entire life on the family farm. Beloved husband of the late Gwen Hawker (1985). Dear father of Lynda (Doug) Jefferson of Fergus and Rob of Toronto. Proud grandfather of Amanda and Brendon. Lovingly remembered by sisters, Vera (Arnold) Bruce and Jeanne (Dutch) Wellhauser all of Guelph. Sadly missed by his six nephews and their families. Lloyd enjoyed the years he farmed and had a great passion for gardening. He worked construction, did auto body repair and was a corn seed salesman. Lloyd was a faithful volunteer with Meals on Wheels for 17 years where he made many cherished friends. With his creativity and selfless approach, he willingly volunteered his time to family and friends. Friends called at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL - McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph. Service was held at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11am with the Rev. Kyle Benger officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Red Cross Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.
