Pioneer Day comes to town Saturday

Residents are invited to join the fun in this  weekend’s Pioneer Day on June 9.

It begins at 10am with the Rockwood Rubber Duckie Race at Rockwood Waterside Park.

Proceeds go to the Guelph Wish Fund for Children that serves Guelph and Wellington County.

Everyone is invited to take part in the parade starting at noon and heading through town.

Judging will follow at Lloyd Dyer Park and there will be prizes for best float, best decorated bike, best decorated tractor, best decorated car, best theme costume, best overall costume, best hat, and best dressed pet.

Also between noon and 4pm there will be various games and events in the park including the    Thunderforce Giant Obstacle Course, Little Builders, Bouncy amusement, Luigi’s Liquids – Bottle Stall, dunk tank, penny table, airbrush tattoos, plant sale, Acton’s Citizen Band, food booths, demonstrations and more. Later is an outdoor movie night from 7pm to 1am. Attendees are advised to bring your lawn chair and blanket and bug spray.

Ian Reid will host an open stage concert on Friday June 8 at 7pm in the pavilion at Waterside Park with guest Alistair Bradley, from Kitchener.

Again it is recommended to bring a lawn chair and bug spray.
