St. George’s Church is kick off Halloween weekend with a screening of the original 1925 silent film The Phantom of the Opera, accompanied by live music

The Oct. 28 showing will feature guest organist William O’Meara who will provide patrons with an entertaining evening of improvised playing on the church’s historic casavant pipe organ.

The St. George’s Anglican Church’s organ has recently undergone an extensive upgrade and Dr. Gerry Manning, director of music, is eager to “pull out all the stops” organizers state.

Proceeds from the show will support the music program at St. George’s, which includes the casavant pipe organ and a choral scholars program and the Guelph Connections Concert Series.

Premium tickets are $40; choice tickets are $30; and value tickets are $20. The champagne reception ($60) before the show is nearly sold out. Wine and sparkling water will also be available for purchase before the show.

The champagne reception begins at 7pm. Doors open for general seating at 7:30pm; the show begins at 8pm sharp.
