Party in the Park June 22 in Palmerston

PALMERSTON – Organizers are gearing up for the 6th annual Party in the Park, to be held on June 22 at Palmerston Lions Heritage Park.

The 2019 event will feature musical acts Lulu’s Roadhouse Band, Month of Sundays and Derek and Maggie Moore.

The party is an age of majority event. Advance tickets are $20 and available at Home Hardware in Palmerston and Harriston or online at www.norgantheatre.com. Tickets will be $25 at the gate. Gates open at 7pm for the party which begins at 7:30pm.

At the June 3 Minto council meeting councillor Ron Elliott reported that the Handcar Races planned for earlier on June 22 have been cancelled due to lack of competitors.

Elliott said the event may be revived in the future as a family participation event, rather than a competition.

Pride in the Park

The Palmerston Lion’s Heritage Park will also be the site of the first annual Minto Pride in the Park event on July 13.

Coordinated by the Town of Minto Cultural Roundtable, “This family friendly event is a celebration of diversity and inclusion in our rural communities,” organizers state.

Between 2pm and 5pm the event will feature a free barbecue, face-painting, and a variety of community run tables with crafts, educational activities, and more, including library-run stories and button-making sessions.

“Decorate yourself, your bike or your pet and join us for a Pride March through the park departing from the pavilion at 5pm and led by our special Minto Pride Ambassadors,” organizers urge.

Touch a Truck

Minto Fire’s annual Touch a Truck event will be held on June 15, from 10am to 2pm at the Harriston Minto Community Complex.

Youngsters can climb aboard a variety of heavy equipment, honk horns, flash lights, explore and learn about fire, farm and equipment safety at the event which has thousands of dollars for a variety of causes since its inception.

Minto Fire has announced this will be the last year for the event, which was first held in 2013.
