On Saturday, June 7, some of Canadian country music’s finest performers will bring their talents to Lions Heritage Park in downtown Palmerston for Party in the Park.
The day long concert will feature performances from Jamie Warren, Colin Amey, the Ty Baynton Band, the Lucas Rogerson Band, and the Juanita Wilkins Band, with proceeds from the show going towards the Norgan Theatre and the Palmerston Lions Club.
Jamie Warren was born in Hanover and since beginning his career in the mid 80s has gone on to be the most awarded independent male artist in Canadian country music. He has had numerous singles chart in the top 10 in the Canadian country music charts, and has gained a very strong following in mid-western Ontario.
Colin Amey, from Dunnville, Ontario, has released four studio albums to date with two of his singles charting in the top 20. He has collaborated with some big names in Canadian music such as Jamie Warren and Brian Allen. His latest hit is a cover Kim Mitchell’s song Go For A Soda.
Ty Baynton is one of Canada’s emerging country artists, having been nominated in 2012 for Best Country Artist at the Toronto Independent Music Awards, and he is currently campaigning to win emerging artist for a spot at the Boot & Hearts Festival.
Lucas Rogerson of Drayton has been performing for more than 10 years as part of the Settlers Creek Band, and more recently as a solo artist. Rogerson performed earlier this year at the Norgan Theatre, and left those in attendance wanting more of his unique blend of country, rock and jazz music.
Juanita Wilkins of Wingham is known to many local fans. CBC Music said, “listening to Juanita Wilkins perform is like sitting back enjoying a triple-decker ice cream cone.”
The gates for the concert will open at 3pm, and it is an all ages show. The bar will open at 3pm, with food (including the Norgan’s famous popcorn) and non-alcoholic beverages being available for purchase as well. Re-entry into the concert will be allowed until 7pm, with the show wrapping up around 11pm. Concert goers will be allowed to bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc. onto the grounds for the show, however, outside food and beverage, as well as backpacks, will not be allowed.
