Palmerston man charged in incident involving replica handgun

PALMERSTON – A local man has been charged following an incident involving a replica firearm outside a home here.

On July 11 at about 9pm, Wellington County OPP received a report of a person in possession of what appeared to be a handgun or imitation handgun on Jane Street in Palmerston.

“Officers responded and the person was taken into custody,” police stated in a press release.

“There were no injuries reported during this incident.”

Nicholas James Yarkie, 23, of Palmerston, was charged with pointing a firearm and possession of an imitation weapon for dangerous purpose.

He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
