PALMERSTON - A hockey tournament that took place Oct. 20-21 at the Palmerston and District Community Centre far surpassed its $50,000 goal.

Close to $62,000 was raised for the Martin family, which will go toward making a new home wheelchair-accessible for their six-year-old daughter Mya, centre, who has spina bifida.

Tournament organizer Winston Shantz thanked everyone, including the sponsors, who made the event possible. The Hawkesville Hurricanes came out on top of the Glen Allan Saints 5-0 in the final game to win this year’s tournament.
