Police are looking for clues after someone allegedly stole close to 50 birds last weekend from two properties southwest of Arthur.

On June 19, Wellington County OPP officers responded to the reported theft from on Wellington Road 12 in Wellington North.

Police say two neighbours in the area share and look after 25 chickens, seven turkeys (two of which are prize birds and are black in colour with hooked beaks) and 15 laying hens, with a total value of about $800.

The birds may have been stolen from the yards on June 17 between 6 and 11pm, police add.

The OPP is asking anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip online at www.csgw.tips.
