‘Outlander’ star to be featured guest at Fergus Scottish Festival

FERGUS – The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games has announced its “featured guest” for this summer’s festival will be Richard Rankin.

Fans of Outlander will recognize Rankin as the actor who plays Roger MacKenzie on the hit TV series, which is based on the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon.

Rankin is the third Outlander star featured at the Fergus Scottish Festival, which this year runs from Aug. 11 to 13 on the Fergus sportsplex grounds.

“The festival team has curated an awesome combination of unique VIP experiences, including brunch, autograph/photo opportunities, whisky tastings, and free panel discussions,” states an April 26 press release from the festival.

Officials say there will be “multiple opportunities to meet Rankin up close, and in addition to scheduled featured events, he will also be participating in activities through the Festival grounds.”

Tickets for scheduled events with Rankin go on sale on May 3 at 10am.
