OPP investigating possible link between two fires
Wellington County OPP received a report of an arson attempt at Harry Stone’s Bar and Grill here on March 31 at around 1:55am.
Police say a suspect tried to set the outdoor patio on fire. Employees saw the small fire and immediately extinguished it, police report.
Shortly after, the OPP received a report of a break-in on Marklane Street in Harriston.
The complainant reported they awoke to the fire alarm and discovered a couch on fire in the basement. Someone gained entry through the basement window. The complainants attempted to extinguish the fire with water but eventually used a fire extinguisher to put the flames out.
Investigation has revealed the two incidents may be linked, police say.
