OPP investigating ‘non-suspicious death’ after body found in Elora Gorge

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Police continue to investigate what they’re calling a “non-suspicious death” here.

On Dec. 15 at about 6:15pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of a missing person in the area of Blair Street in Fergus.

Police conducted a search of the area, aided by the OPP Canine Unit, a helicopter from OPP Aviation Services, Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services.

At about 8:30pm, police located a man deceased in the Elora Gorge.

Police do not suspect foul play and continue to investigate.

“The Office of the Chief Coroner was notified and will be attending,” police stated in a press release.

“The identity of the deceased will not be released at this time.”
