Only a few hours left

Right until press deadline, nominations for this fall’s election were filtering in to the various municipal offices around Wellington County.

This is the last call for candidates.

On Friday at 2pm, we will know exactly who is running where. This is the final chance to file nomination papers and we suggest candidates looking to run have their paperwork in order and get to the township office on time.

It doesn’t always happen, but we have seen later filers get into it with clerks about timing and deadlines. Like most other things in life, a little courtesy goes a long way.

For numerous elections councils have remained static, but it would appear movements are underway to offer voters choices they have not had for some time.

Certainly, positive candidates with a positive message are needed since much of the buzz in communities where challengers have filed is down on the organization and present councillors.

Our reporters will fill in readers on the comings and goings of candidates in the next few weeks. If you have a tip or idea, or question, we’d like to hear from you.

Readers can visit our website for final candidate counts, prior to our next paper, where complete lists and biographies will be made available for readers’ consideration.

Note to candidates: If you have not contacted the Advertiser to provide your photo and 100-word bio, please do so no later than noon on Sept. 13 at News@wellingtonadvertiser.com.

Any photos and bios received after that date will not be included in our election coverage the next week.
