One person airlifted to hospital after three-vehicle collision

CENTRE WELLINGTON – One person was airlifted to hospital after a serious three-vehicle collision on Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 6 and 8th Line/Wellington Road 22, south of Ennotville, on Nov. 27 at about 5pm.

“Initial reports indicated that two [SUVs] and one sedan were involved, partially blocking the intersection,” stated a Nov. 28 press release from the Wellington County OPP.

“As a result of the collision, one driver was taken to local hospital for assessment with minor injuries, and a passenger from another motor vehicle was taken by Ornge Air Ambulance to a trauma centre with non-life threatening injuries.”

A 64-year-old resident of Rockwood was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a highway.

The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

The Highway 6/Wellington Road 22 intersection has been the site of many collisions over the years, including several fatal crashes.

The province has committed to upgrades at the intersection and county staff have in the past lobbied for a roundabout there.
