One million reasons to jog across Wellington County

A celebration is being planned to recognize Wellington County Green Legacy’s one millionth tree.

“It’s quite a milestone,” Minto Mayor David Anderson said at a recent town council session.

He added that Green Legacy nursery manager Rob Johnson, in honour of the millionth tree, is going to jog from the top of Wellington County.

“He’s going to start in Wellington North, and I don’t know why he’s not going to start in Minto,” Anderson joked.

He added that within one day, Johnson will jog all the way to the Green Legacy nursery in Puslinch.

Anderson said the hope is that Johnson will be joined by local councillors. “It’s about 64 kilometres and he’s looking for someone to run each kilometer with him.”

Deputy-mayor Judy Dirksen humorously suggested that Anderson might be excused because the run is not going through Minto.
