The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs staff currently housed here at Wellington Place now has a new home.

The ministry branch will be moving to the former Elora Antique Warehouse at the intersection of County Roads 7 and 21 when its lease with the county expires on March 31.

There has been no formal announcement, but the move was posted on the Wellington Federation of Agriculture website.

In April, all of the services currently provided by the  OMAFRA at Aboyne will be available at the new Elora Resource Centre.

Manager Mike Ralph was away and unable to comment when the ministry was contacted.

County council forced the move when it decided to expand its archives this year, but councillors were also concerned that the OMAFRA offices remain in the central part of the county.

County councillor Carl Hall has stated he was pleased to learn that the service will still be available in Centre Wellington.
