OLSEN, April A. (nee Spencer-Phillips); Passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on May 28, 2016 at Barnswallow Place, Elmira, Ontario, having just celebrated a brilliant 83rd birthday surrounded by her family and friends. April, who grew up in Montreal, will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years Alek Olsen of Elora, Ontario, originally of Montreal. Dearly missed by her children Toby (Gerry) Harris, Kari Olsen and Erik (Julia) Olsen. Loving grandmother to Torry, Ryan, Kelsey, Hanna, Phoebe, Griffin and Annika as well as great grandmother to Dylan. Predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth, Pamela and Jean of Montreal. April will be missed by many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. The family extends its gratitude to the caring staff at Barnswallow Place and all the wonderful health care and home care workers who helped make our mother’s passage more peaceful these past two years. As with the first flowers of spring, April brought joy to this world in everything she did. And broke all the rules doing it! She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those she loved. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 from 3-4 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Elora. A Celebration of April’s life will follow from 4-7 at 45 Colborne Street, Elora.
