OLG makes $570,000 payment to township

ELORA – The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued a payment of $572,725 to the Township of Centre Wellington for hosting Elements Casino Grand River in Elora.

The fourth quarter (Jan. 1 to March 31) non-tax gaming revenue payment brings the total paid to Centre Wellington this fiscal year to $2,726,074.

Since the slots facility opened, the township  has received more than $34 million in gaming revenue.

“These fourth-quarter payments come at a vital time as our partners at all levels of government work together to support people and employers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated finance minister Rod Phillips.

OLG and its service providers temporarily closed all casinos in Ontario on March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials say that due to the temporary closure, this quarter’s payment was impacted by about 15 days’ worth of lost revenue.

OLG officials expect the July payment will also be impacted.
