GRAND VALLEY – The Town of Grand Valley officially cut the ribbon on its new multi-purpose outdoor recreation facility this month.

The space serves as a basketball, pickleball and ball hockey court in summer, and has the potential to be an outdoor skating rink in winter. It was built next to the skateboard park at the existing community centre with funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

“With the Ontario Trillium Foundation, our government is investing in stronger and healthier communities, across the province, including in Dufferin County,” Dufferin-Caledon MPP Sylvia Jones stated in a news release.

“This capital grant will provide Grand Valley families with a new place to gather in the community, ensuring residents have year-round access to this multi-purpose recreation facility,” she stated.

The grant has allowed the creation of a space for the community to come together to enjoy all forms of recreation, Grand Valley Mayor Steve Soloman stated in the release.

Last year, the Ontario Trillium Foundation invested more than $110 million into 1,044 community projects and multi-sector partnerships, the release stated.

Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment. For more information, visit otf.ca.
