Official: Crime Stoppers ready for remote messaging for schools

Each year talk of “Back To School” seems to catch us off guard. However, this year, with everything being far from ordinary, Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) is well prepared for students of all ages.

We are working with our local schools to ensure we can adhere to protocols that will permit us to present our Crime Stoppers message, remotely of course. While it is important to get word to our youth about how to report and resolve crime in their school communities, it is just as important to keep everyone safe.

CSGW is excited to offer this training via Zoom or the meeting platform of the teacher’s choice and we can help them educate our young people about being strong and informed community citizens. An understanding of how to keep our communities safe is the best way to empower the next generation.

We also enjoy a solid relationship with the University of Guelph Campus Police. With so many students attending our local university, CSGW is proud to be featured on the Safe Gryphon app.

This app allows university students to report crime directly to police OR to CSGW.

While the 2020-21 school year may look different from other intakes, one thing that never changes is our commitment to children, youth, teachers and schools. We look forward to working with you regardless of how the fall semester unfolds.

CSGW continues to take tips by phone (1-800-222-TIPS) and via csgw.tips. Caller information is confidential and secure.

A tip could be the missing piece of the puzzle.
