Oakes, Doris Nellie (nee: Tonkin); Peacefully on June 3rd, 2013 at Hospice Wellington with her family by her side. Doris Oakes of Elora in her 94th year. Beloved wife for 44 years of the late Leslie F. (Dick) Oakes (1983). Loving mother of Brian and Carol Oakes of RR#1, Elmira and Joyce and Terry Conroy of Elora. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Stephen and Jan Oakes, Brad and Tina Oakes, Ted and Cindy Conroy, Dan and Joanne Conroy, Tricia Conroy and Nathaniel Dewar as well as her 8 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Helen Atkinson of Fergus and Jean and Ken Pettit of Kitchener. Doris is survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other family members. Predeceased by her parents William and Nell Tonkin, brothers Ernie and Jack and his wife Fern Tonkin, as well as brother-in-law Ralph Atkinson and lifelong friends Rosa and Ken Humphries. Doris was proud to live in her dream home in Elora for 73 years. Friends were received at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home & Chapel, 37 Church St. East in Elora, on Tuesday, June 4th from 7:00-9:00 pm. A funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel, on Wednesday, June 5th, 2013 at 11:00am.
