Nutcracker returns to Guelph

Ballet Jorgen Canada brings its Christmas presentation of the Nutrcracker to Guelph’s River Run Centre on Dec. 22 and 23.

Choreographed by Bengt Jörgen to Tchaikovsky’s well known score, this production  includes a collaboration with Kleinburg’s McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

Set in the early 1900s this quintessentially Canadian version of the Nutcracker tells the tale of a girl’s Christmas dream and her journey through our northern landscapes.

Open auditions on Sept. 17 allowed area dance students to try-out for a spot with the professional cast for the River Run performances. Students from Guelph, Elora, Fergus, Acton, Orangeville and Rockwood have been selected

In the spirit of giving, the community is invited to Share The Magic and support Family and Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County by purchasing a ticket at the discounted price of $20, to be donated to a child or family who might not otherwise be able to attend the Nutcracker.

Tickets are now on sale at River Run Centre box office at (519)763-3000 or 1-877-520-2408 or at www.riverrun.ca.
